Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Originating from Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. The actress landed her first part as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001 despite struggling with finances. The role she played as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played the lead actor in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with all of the ensemble. Grace left the television series in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in film, appearing in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. In 2008, she played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also her muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began when she was a teenager, playing small parts in a few of his films. She also appeared together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the drama Sherrybaby (2006) each of which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films such as World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). After her successful performance as a single mother of Crazy Heart (2009), she earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee as well as The Big Bang and Hysteria. Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles were as the main character The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
